Jon maintains a national legal and government affairs practice.
Jon represents corporate clients on compliance, government, political, and public policy matters. Utilizing legal and government affairs expertise, Jon develops and implements the most direct and efficient solution to each client matter.
Jon represents large publicly traded corporations and private businesses in addressing and resolving significant legal matters. Jon work has developed and implemented advanced compliance systems for large international corporations and serves as outside general counsel for multiple clients.
Jon regularly represents corporations and non-profit organizations in developing and implementing effective government affairs strategies across the United States. Jon directs and manages national multi-state government affairs programs for corporate clients. In the area of election law, Jon represents corporations, non-profits, political committees as well as state and federal elected officials to help ensure compliance with federal and state election and campaign finance laws. In the prior election cycle, Jon represented members of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, a U.S. presidential campaign, non-profit organizations and multiple Super PAC’s and 527 committees.
Prior to forming West Group in 2018, Jon was a Partner at the law firm of Holland & Hart LLP, directing the firms’ national political and government affairs practice. Prior to joining Holland & Hart, Jon served as Chief Counsel to Colorado Governor Bill Owens.
In the community, Jon is Chairman of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce and serves as a Director of The Western Way. Past community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for Ronald McDonald House Charities, Colorado Preservation Inc., and other charitable organizations.

Gwen provides clients with comprehensive legal and government affairs services.
Gwen provides legal counsel to corporations and non-profit organizations. She advises clients on complex transactional matters and develops and implements advanced compliance systems for publicly traded and privately held corporations. Gwen regularly advises businesses on a wide range of legal and compliance matters,
Gwen maintains a leading election and campaign finance practice, representing clients on state and local ballot measures and advising federal and state candidates and elected officials. This practice includes serving as compliance counsel and directing reporting and filing for state and federal campaigns and committees. Gwen also regularly advises corporations and non-profit organizations on local, state and federal campaign finance laws.
Prior to joining West Group, Gwen was with the law firm of Holland & Hart for ten years. Gwen is former Chief Legal Counsel to Colorado Governor Bill Owens, where she directed a wide range of legal, policy, and legislative matters. Prior to this role, Gwen was Legislative Assistant to United States Senator Wayne Allard, and Gwen continues to represent clients’ interests on federal legislative and regulatory matters.

John is a government affairs professional delivering results for clients across numerous industry sectors.
As a non-lawyer professional, John utilizes his extensive experience in federal and state government to direct effective government affairs solutions on behalf of corporations and non-profit organizations. John is a registered lobbyist in Colorado and helps manage multi-state government affairs programs.
In Colorado, John represents clients at the state Capitol and before state agencies across multiple industry sectors including energy, telecommunications, and higher education. Beyond traditional lobbying services, John coordinates public relations and advocacy campaigns that directly support the lobbying function.
John also manages government affairs programs at the local, state and national level. John has managed multi-state government affairs programs for large corporations and regularly advises clients on legislative and regulatory developments across the country that directly impact clients’ business interests.
Prior to joining West Group, John was the Colorado Director of Government Affairs for the law firm Holland & Hart LLP for six years. Previously, John was Director of Legislative Affairs for the Colorado Department of Higher Education, directing the state Department’s legislative agenda. He also served as a Senior Policy Advisor to former Colorado Governor Bill Owens, where he was responsible for public safety, corrections, and local affairs matters. In addition, he served as the governor’s representative to the Western Governors’ Association focusing on land use, natural resources, and energy policies across the western United States.
John also served as Speechwriter to the Secretaries of the Department of Homeland Security and Housing and Urban Development in the George W. Bush administration. John graduated from Princeton University in 2003 and earned a master’s in business administration from the University of Denver in 2010.

Suzanne represents clients on state and local government issues. Her practice emphasizes election law, ballot measures and campaign finance.
Utilizing over 20 years of government practice, Suzanne provides efficient and creative solutions to her clients. Suzanne has advised clients on public policy, government affairs, compliance and constitutional law.
Prior to joining West Group, Suzanne was the Colorado Deputy Secretary of State for seven years, where she worked on election issues and chaired the State Initiative Title Setting Board. Suzanne also has over 15 years of experience representing counties and municipalities in a wide range of issues including taxation, TABOR compliance, procurement, land use, open meetings and open records.
Suzanne has coached High School Mock Trial for 10 years, served as a DU Law student mentor and volunteered with the We the People High School Civics program.
